The 34th Gran Premio Nuvolari, the regularity race for historic cars dedicated to the legendary Mantuan driver, ended on Sunday 22 September with the victory of the Italian crew no. 51 formed by Andrea and Roberto Vesco, who already won nine editions of the Gran Premio Nuvolari, driving a 1935 FIAT 508 S.
Japo was served at supper during the event and was appreciated by the 300 crews from all over the world who attended the race. The gentlemen drivers, together with navigator and technical entourage, were able to taste the Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Japo at dinner, a moment to relax and get together after each day of race, which was particularly demanding and characterised by a very close battle.
Second place was occupied by the Argentinean crew no. 32 Tonconogy-Ruffini who, at the wheel of a 1931 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS Zagato Spider, crossed the finish line a hundredth of a second behind the winning couple.
“It was exciting to see Piazza Sordello packed with enthusiasts who gathered to pay homage to the myth of Tazio Nuvolari and admire the marvellous parade of historic cars,” commented Gianni Coassin, owner of C&C. “It was an honour to see the winners uncork our Japo at the prize-giving ceremony: our premium sparkling wine, designed to celebrate the great occasions, was just the perfect accompaniment to award the winners of this memorable edition.”
There were numerous countries representing all continents (Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Greece, Luxembourg, Holland, Hungary, the United States, Great Britain, Austria, Belgium, Uruguay, Argentina, Japan, Monte Carlo, the Republic of San Marino, Russia, Sweden, Mexico, Australia) and 35 car manufacturers competing, from the Italian Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Lancia, Ferrari and Fiat, to the British Jaguar, Aston Martin, Bentley and Triumph, the German Mercedes, BMW and Porsche to the French pursangs signed by Ettore Bugatti. This year, 85 pre-war cars (manufactured between 1923 and 1946) took part in the event.
