Veneto
Veneto is not only the largest wine producer in Italy, but also one of the most varied regions.
On the evocative hills of Valdobbiadene, World Unesco Heritage Site, the production of Prosecco is dominant: a sparkling wine that has become essential in aperitifs, but pairs well with the whole meal in its drier versions. In the plains international varieties such as Cabernet, Merlot and Pinot Gris from the DOC Delle Venezie and IGT Veneto appellations are grown with excellent results. In the area surrounding Verona, exquisite red wines are produced, such as Amarone della Valpolicella, Ripasso Superiore and Bardolino. Among the whites, the most popular are the soft Lugana, Soave and Custoza, three DOC wines that pair well with a vast array of dishes. Our selection draw on these particularly suitable territories.
